Lanes Vets is a veterinary practice that also operates as a veterinary nurse training facility. Recent reviews describe a “fear free” handling policy around procedures (including not leaving animals distressed in crates before/after an operation), and owners repeatedly mention efforts to reduce stress for anxious dogs (treats, greeting pets by name, and distraction techniques during consults).
Based on the latest reviews, the clinic appears set up for routine surgery and dentistry as well as general medical work—examples include a castration, dental extractions (12 teeth), oral X‑rays, and removal of a mouth growth. Several owners also mention clear post-op care instructions and medication plans, plus being kept updated during a pet’s stay.

Kind, professional, experienced- what more could you ask for? Our poor dog Mabel had to have 12 teeth and a large growth removed from her mouth. We had been at a previous vet until a month prior and had queried her teeth 4 times but were told they were largely in good condition, just carry on brushing with a toothbrush… and they had removed the lump but not deeply enough so it grew back… one month with Lanes and an x-ray later and her teeth were clearly not fine at all and she was suffering unnecessarily. Jo carried out a long, complex operation to fix her up. After a previous bad experience at the old vet, we were nervous to leave our dog, but we were reassured in the pre op appointment, with Jo’s calm and kind nature, and the practice’s fear free policy, where they won’t leave an animal distressed in their crate before or after an operation. Even the cone they fitted was the minimum needed so our dog can carry out her daily activities but protect her op site. They gave very clear instructions on how to care for Mabel as she recovered and ensured she had plenty of medicine to take the edge off. She isn’t out of it, but is clearly not suffering when well dosed. Wish we had been with Lanes all along.

Took my dog in for a castration and couldn’t have had better service. They kept me really well updated and really took care of him. He is quite demanding of attention but they’d very obviously kept him happy. He came home thinking he’d just been at daycare! All the reception staff are really lovely and knowledgable, especially Karen. As are the vets and assistants. You can just tell they all actually enjoy working there and doing what they do, which wasn’t the case for the last vets we were at.

What a wonderful vets. I have a golden retriever who used to be traumatised by a visit to the vets, he would shake and cry, we literally had to drag him into the surgery. Since changing to Lanes vets he actually drags me across the car park to go in. On each visit they welcome him by name, fuss him and give him a treat. If he gets nervous in his consultation they give him liver paste to lick to take his mind off what is going on. The care and concern the staff show your pet is just next level. I can't recommend this vets enough. The vets are knowledgeable, caring, kind and reasonably priced.

Outstanding vets, can really tell they care about the animals. Very reasonably priced. I was a customer of Oakhill before this and they seemed a lot more money oriented and it seemed more like a business than a place to treat pets. I would definitely recommend this vets to anyone in the Preston area. Thank you for looking after my girls 🐶 🐶

Found this beautiful little dog lost, wet and cold. Rang this practice and they couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. Scanned her, dried her and contacted the owner who was delighted to get her back. Lovely practice and staff. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a caring practice.
